Over the last 3 years, over 100 stateless children get to go to school, learn Thai and take their first steps being recognized as a person.
Most of the children are born in Thailand but are stateless as their parents are refugees in Thailand. The children speak Mon, Karen and some Burmese. Few speak only little Thai. The classes will teach the children Thai and will take care of them while the parents work in plantations in the area. Without the School children would be prone to potential exploitation, violence, malnutrition and trafficking. Following 2 years preparatory school, the children can attend a Thai school and get a Thai student ID card which can eventually, after some years, lead to a Thai citizenship ID and provide them protection under Thai laws.
