BRING HOPE FOR CHILDREN WITH FACIAL CLEFT LIP\/PALATE DEFORMITIES<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

At this moment thousands of children in remote rural areas of Thailand with congenital facial deformities are in need of treatment and left without hope.  The Journal of Associated Medical Sciences reports that approximately 2000 children are born with cleft lips and palate annually in Thailand. Rotary will facilitate surgical operations for 180 such children across 4 provinces over one year.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

ROTARY <\/strong>will partner with the doctors of the Thai Red Cross Society\u2019s mobile clinics. While the operations are done free of cost by the doctors, Rotary Club of Bangkok will provide logistics support covering cost of operation, medicines, pre and post operative care and miscellaneous expenses at Baht 5000 per case.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Cleft lip\/palate deformities naturally create severe anxieties for both children and parents. Problems relate to complications in sucking milk, having a meal, choking, lung inflammation, otorrhea, abnormalities in communication and different appearance from other children. The child grows up with mental trauma and is socially stigmatised. Following the operation the patient will live a normal quality of life, attend school, work and be a productive member of society.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
